Extrovert scale — probably a 7.
Quality of my mother I’ll always remember & cherish — meekness.
News: I’m “off” today. The family & I plan to worship with my wife’s parents in East Peoria and enjoy the day with them.
News: Yesterday I helped out at a benefit for one of our member’s father. We raised a little under $2000 for his medical expenses. I was very pleased overall & got to make a couple hundred pancakes from scratch. I enjoy cooking (when I’ve got time).
I definitely lean to the extrovert side. Naturally, a 6 maybe 7. Like Mike, I push myself to be more outgoing. I do enjoy interacting with people and can meet and greet most with ease. Teaching the adult class at church, moderating and guiding the discussion is pure fun. Preaching is different. Sometimes I feel close to enjoying it, but that feeling can soon pass in favor of feeling pressure.
I don’t like to be in very large crowds, like busy urban malls, shoulder-to-shoulder amusement parks, and packed stadiums. I do need my daily alone time, otherwise my discomfort level begins to rise. Speaking in front of people I don’t know, requires lots of self-talk interspersed with brief prayers.
On a scale of 1-10, I’m a motivated extrovert 7 – not a natural born extrovert. When I was growing up, I was an introvert, but had to motivate myself to be an extrovert because of the demands of my job as manager of our school district’s mail room.
Are you an extrovert or introvert? On a scale of 1-10 how much of an extrovert are you? (1 being introvert, not very outgoing, and 10 being very outgoing.) Is there a place for introverts in the church? Does introversion hinder doing God’s mission?
Not long ago somebody wrote a book about introverts in the church. Reckon the author was one himself?
I also read somewhere that more introverts than extroverts are on the Internet. Why do you think that’s the case?
And we all know that introverts marry extroverts. Did you do that, too?
That last bit may not be news to you, but I bet you have news to share. What might it be? Baptism? Death? Birth? New outreach? Good adaptations of the faith to your situation? New congregation near you?
