Verify the facts

Rising Joy, by Vicki Matheny

An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were absolutely terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid! Listen carefully, for I proclaim to you good news that brings great joy to all the people: Today your Savior is born in the city of David. He is Christ the Lord.(…) Luke 2.9-11

In the Bible, the reaction to the appearance of an angel was great fear. Here the reaction of the shepherds is no different. They were living out in the field, keeping guard over their flock at night. Between the sudden appearance of the angel and the light from the glory of the Lord shining around, they were absolutely terrified.

The angel had a message to deliver to them. It was good news! It would bring great joy to everyone. Jesus was born in Bethlehem. They later decide to go check it out for themselves. They head to Bethlehem and find Jesus in the manger.

After sharing what they had seen and heard, they returned to the field glorifying and praising God. Everything they had been told was true.

Today, Christians are God’s messengers. The subject has not changed. We still announce Jesus to the world. We find what we need to know written in the Bible. Do you encourage others to verify the facts for themselves? Everything written in the Bible is true; therefore, we also can glorify and praise God.

9-25-2017 Evolutionary Contradictions

Repeating a lie doesn’t make it true. “The prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, ‘Hear now, Hananiah, the LORD has not sent you, but you make this people trust in a lie’” (Jeremiah 28:15 NKJV). The false doctrine of “Evolution” causes people to exchange “the truth of God for the lie” and worship and serve “the creature rather than the Creator” (Romans 1:25 NKJV). There is no scientific fact to prove it, and it contradicts Scripture and scientific facts! God will reject the immoral and “whoever loves and practices a lie” (Revelation 22:15 NKJV). “Evolution” cannot account for: amazing design and detail; a human’s emotional heart; cell DNA; faith and hope; an eternal soul; or life, itself. It substitutes primordial goo for God; survival of the fittest for mercy; and outer comparisons for inner connections.

5-26-2015 God versus “Climate Change” #1

According to the Environmental Protection Agency’s website, “Scientists have pieced together a picture of Earth’s climate, dating back hundreds of thousands of years, by analyzing a number of indirect measures of climate such as ice cores, tree rings, glacier lengths, pollen remains, and ocean sediments, and by studying changes in Earth’s orbit around the sun.” This is their “evidence” for their “Climate Change” doctrine?  According to the Bible, the Earth has not been in existence for “hundreds of thousands of years.” In Jude 14, Enoch is the “seventh from Adam,” which covers Genesis chapters 1-5, and there is then a connection of generations until Abraham in Genesis 10-11. There were only 42 “generations” from Abraham to Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:1-17). The EPA follows fictional Evolution for their “Climate Change” fantasy, God’s Bible follows actual facts!

2-20-2015           Science Depends Upon “Faith”

Scientific conclusions stated as fact can be a matter of “faith” because “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1 NKJV). Science says “no two snowflakes are alike.” Have they examined every snowflake that has fallen on us this week? No. But every snowflake they have examined is different, therefore a reasonable conclusion is “no two snowflakes are alike.” The evidence they have points to a conclusion beyond their sight. That’s exactly how we know God exists: the overwhelming evidence we have demands the conclusion that only God could have done it. “He who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6 NKJV). Make sure your “faith” has facts first.

2-10-2015           To Tell The Truth

Brian Williams, anchorman on NBC TV’s “Nightly News,” recounted for over 10 years how his helicopter was shot down while reporting the war in Iraq. It wasn’t! He also reported seeing a body float by his motel room when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. Sadly, his motel wasn’t in a part of the city that flooded. Facts and truth should always shape our opinions. “Do not be wise in your own opinion” (Romans 12:16 NKJV). Relying upon what “we think” can be unreliable, to say the least. Many “think” they remember being saved before they were baptized, but Jesus’ fact about who He saves is: “”He who believes and is baptized will be saved” (Mark 16:16 NKJV). Shouldn’t you re-think your testimony about your salvation before you say it again?

I was listening to an audiobook by Rabbi…

I was listening to an audiobook by Rabbi Harold Kushner, author of “When Bad Things Happen to Good People,” about the book of Job and I learned some strange Bible “facts.”

1. There are two books of Job. The first book is the Fable of Job which is found in Job chapters 1,2,42. It’s simply a parable to teach us about suffering. The second book of Job is the poetry section that constitutes the remainder of the book.

2. When James referenced Job in James 5:11, he was referring to the fable. He claimed that James was dated near the end of the first century and wasn’t considered part of the canon then.

3. Since Abraham and Sarah were so old when Isaac was born, Isaac was a special needs child. Therefore, he is the only person in Scripture who had to have his parents arrange his marriage for him because of his diminished mental abilities.

If only everyone believed in the power of inspiration.

Needless to say, I’m no longer listening to this book. I figured a Christian-themed Western was much more entertaining and less maddening.
