This is an easy question to answer – my grandmother. She’s been gone from this life since the summer of 1989, but her godly influence still speaks to me in my mind and spirit today (Hebrews 11:4).
Thank you Lord for godly women, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
The two people who were my biggest influences to become a preacher were my maternal Grandmother, Geneva Lewis, and my preacher for ten years while I was growing up, David Sain.
My Grandmother always encouraged me to preach and to be a student of God’s Word. She was very faithful in attendance and in service to God, even though her husband was not. Physically, she is still alive and has been able to hear me preach and read my writing. Sadly, her mind is no longer with us all the time. I am very thankful for her influence in my life.
Brother Sain is a great story teller and very well-spoken. His lessons flow so smoothly and his insight into human nature is compelling. He taught me more about preaching than any one person has and I am very grateful for him.
