    I received a call out of the clear blue from a fellow who simply introduced the call with “I am from Indiana and looking for someone to do a wedding in your area.” I suspect that it was a call that is related to the recent Supreme Court ruling regarding same-sex marriage. I replied that I only perform ceremonies for our local members and he promptly hung up. While I have no evidence, I suspect that this is an example of pushing an agenda and let the unsuspecting beware.

    What should be the proper response by faithful Christians who respect the word of God towards the increasing acceptance of same-sex marriage? I suppose some judge that I hate gays and lesbians or at the very least hold them in contempt. But don’t hasten your prosecution. I believe that we need to preach the love of God for all, as well as encourage righteousness and purity in every phase of life. I understand that some tell us they are troubled with same-sex attraction. To these we should offer emotional and spiritual support, just as we do to others who struggle with alcohol, anger, or any other sinful proclivity. But what we mustn’t do is cave-in to the claims of Hollywood, the ACLU, left wing activists, Supreme Court justices, the president, and even some churches. . If God declares a certain behavior deviant and perverse, let not man claim it is normal and acceptable. This is Just-A-Minute.

    Have you noticed that every television show somehow works in a gay or lesbian couple nowadays? At the rate things are going, a straight couple or should I say normal couple will soon be as hard to find as A-1 in a Heinz ketchup factory. That Hollywood closet must be a big one. They look at me and say I’m homophobic. But I’m not homophobic, I’m a believer in the word of God. They look at me and compare me to a racist or anti-Semite bigot. But I am not a bigot, I am simply biased towards the Bible as God’s word. They say, look, some churches have practicing homosexuals as pastors. What another church chooses to do is their business, but what I choose to do is decided with one eye on the scriptures and the other on the Judgment Day. If God declares a certain behavior deviant and perverse, let not man claim it is normal and acceptable. This is Just-A-Minute.

      It is fine if you live your life according to Leviticus, but our republic is not based on scripture, so the only time I will dissent is when people try to use scripture to prohibit American citizens from the same rights that other American citizens enjoy. Basically, if you put that on the ballot as a referendum, I will vote no. If your candidate wants to do it, I will vote for the other’un.

        1 Corinthians 6:9-10 is not in Leviticus. Just because a person says the Bible teaches against the practice of homosexuality it doesn’t mean they are referencing scriptures that are found in Leviticus or any other book from the Old Testament.

            The principles/principals of such republic are indeed based upon principles that are only found in the word of God, whether Old or New Testament:

            When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

            We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

              You must not be aware that the Declaration of Independence was replaced by the Constitution as the highest law of the land 11 years later.

You tried to make a point based on a point that was invalidated by New Testament scripture, and then you tried to say that our republic wasn’t based on principles that derive from scripture and again you side-step the point with another point that is pointless.

    NFL player Michael Sam announces he is gay and there is a tsunami of support. NBA player Jason Collins comes out as gay and makes the cover of Sports Illustrated. The Boy Scouts of America votes to allow openly gay boys into its ranks. The US Supreme Court gives federal recognition to same-sex marriage. The president of the United States scolds the president of Russia for signing into law a ruling that restricts homosexuality. Not only have gays and lesbians come out of the closet, they have managed to convince many that their agenda is a matter of civil rights. But there is nothing civil and nothing right about sodomy! It is shameful, perverse and contrary to nature. Rather than upbraiding Russia for trying to restrict the spread of homosexuality among its young people, our president would fare better taking his stand alongside Russia and the word of God. This is Just-A-Minute.

    . The latest census figures say that there are 131,729 same-sex marriages in America. While that is far fewer that they anticipated, it is still 131,729 too many! God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve! Moreover, when Sodom and Gomorrah got into the same-sex business, God put an end to it by raining fire and brimstone on their heads. The way the US is going, if God does not step in soon, He will have to apologize to the cities of the plain. Men burning in lust for men and women committing shameful acts with women, is both debased and perverse. It is not natural! If it were natural, children could be conceived from it. Had it been Adam and Steve, mankind wouldn’t have lasted long. This is Just-A-Minute

      I happened to come across your blog. Nearly every person who acknowledges an aversion to homosexuality does so on the basis of what he or she believes the Bible has to say. In their mind, there is no doubt whatsoever about what the Bible says and what the Bible means. Their general argument goes something like this: Homosexuality is an abomination and the homosexual is a sinner. Homosexuality is condemned in both the Old and New Testaments. Therefore, if we are to be faithful to the clear teachings of Scripture we too must condemn homosexuality. This premise is being widely debated among evangelicals today and seriously challenged by biblical scholars, theologians and religious leaders everywhere.

      It rarely occurs to any of us that our reading of Scripture is profoundly colored by our own cultural context and worldview. Clearly, throughout church history most Christians who have used the Bible to condemn other Christians believed they were acting in good faith. However, history has revealed that what many were defending was their presumption of what the Bible teaches, not the truth of Scripture.

      Since I happen to speak and write on this very topic, I thought you might find some of these posts of interest.     There is a new Federal study out that debunks many of the popular myths regarding homosexuality. The research was conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics and the Centers for Disease Control and their results were released last March (2011). One myth that took it on the chin is the claim that 10% of the population is homosexual. That goes back to the outdated Kinsey report from the 60’s. This new study finds that only 1.4% of the population is homosexual. Moreover, of those identifying themselves as gay or lesbian, the overwhelming majority have practiced both homosexual and heterosexual relationships. This won’t be popular with the Gay Pride bunch but it certainly fits with what the Bible teaches. This is Just-A-Minute with Ed Boggess

    Homosexual history in public school? – JAM 

    “Calfornigaytion”? That was the title of the Ron Hart piece in our local (Winchester, TN) paper Friday, April 29. He is a regular syndicated feature in the Herald Chronicle. This article was centered on the law proceeding through the CA legislature that would make it mandatory for public schools to teach gay, lesbian and transgender history as part of social studies. Very likely it would be taught by highlighting homosexual people of the past who have made contributions to society. This is simply another step towards conditioning culture for wide-spread acceptance of this biblically condemned perversion and to make anyone opposed to it appear malicious, condemning, biased and unjust. Never before has the need for Christian schools been greater! I predict that this will be the law in all states in a few years. That is where we are headed! Unless the Lord steps in and puts a stop to it, I do not see any way we can block it. However, we’ll certainly try. I unquestionably do not want my grandchildren being taught such “history” (substitute “perversion”)! But moving on just a bit, Hart also wrote, “I have long felt gays are born that way . . . .” We hear this over and over. But I want to raise a question. If homosexuality is genetic, an inherited trait or proclivity, would it not come with a self-terminating character? As more and more gays and lesbians pair off, there would be fewer and fewer offspring born who inherit  that gene. In a relatively few generations, it would be completely eliminated! However, the fact is this is a growing phenomena, not declining! Hence, it is obvious it is not something you are born with, it is a learned behavior and a sinful, perverted one as well!

    ACU alumnus gets “married”

    Someone else marked up the clipping. I realize every school is bound to have graduates of whom it is not proud. However, ACU has been a thorn in the side of the church for years, which only makes it easier to think badly of them when this kind of thing comes to light. It’s a clipping that summarizes much of what is wrong with our world: moral confusion, sin on parade, politicians with no sense, a complicit media, the promotion of perversion, the dishonoring of marriage, and a little school in west Texas notorious for its ever-left-leaning path.

    Makes one wonder, will ACU (1) disavow Mida, or (2) sweep it under the rug, or (3) award him with alumnus of the year?

    Homosexuality: learned behavior! JAM 

    Here is an interesting finding reported in the Vancouver Sun in December of ’08. Researchers from the University of British Columbia nursing school reported that high school girls who were self-described as lesbians are seven times more likely to get pregnant than other girls. On the surface it seems that such is impossible. However, there is more to it than meets the eye. If homosexuality is a learned behavior and not a genetic disorder, one would expect those who experiment with it to also be those who are the least inhibited sexually generally and thus far more likely to end up pregnant. So again hypothesis that people are born gay takes another hit from the truth. This is Just-A-Minute with Ed Boggess
