Carol Short in Ohio sent me this on Facebook:
Received this from our church secretary. Please share this with others, prayers needed for these folks in Mexico: Juan Martinez, a minister in Mexico supported by the Nederland Church of Christ (in the Beaumont area) has requested our prayers. His family must come up with 50,000 pesos, or they all will be murdered. He is not asking for money, just prayers for him and his family’s protection.
Does anybody have any more information? There was no date or other info on this.
Maybe you have read about the huge drug wars in Mexico and how people are being killed at an alarming rate. I just read where 53 people died in a recent 72 hour period in Juarez, Mexico. It is heartbreaking to hear what these people are enduring. When we complain about how much violence occurs in our communities, remember how relative that is, compared to other places in the world.
All we can do is be ready for our death.
Luke 13:1-5, “There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”
The main evil that lurks near me (as well as many other folks), is the evil found in Juarez, Mexico:
Many innocent people have died because of the various drug cartels constant fighting over their territorial domains, and will continue unabated, until something is done about it. A sad commentary on Mexico.
