6-21-2017 Gang Ignorance

“Some therefore cried one thing and some another, for the assembly was confused, and most of them did not know why they had come together” (Acts 19:32 NKJV). Ephesus was known as a center of worship for Diana, an idol goddess of the Ephesians. People came from all around to worship her idol, at her temple, and buy souvenirs to take home and continue their false worship. Paul had successfully preached the difference between the living God, who cannot be represented with anything made with hands, and a false goddess who can do nothing by herself! The mob formed like street mobs today: divided, confused, and ignorant of any purpose. It wasn’t until they were steered against the truth about God, they had any purpose. Gang violence starts with gang ignorance! Solomon said: “Do not associate with those given to change” (Proverbs 24:21 NKJV).

11-10-2016 Street Walkers

It seems there are always people waiting and willing to cause disruption. In Thessalonica, Paul preached the Gospel of Christ, “But the Jews who were not persuaded, becoming envious, took some of the evil men from the marketplace, and gathering a mob, set all the city in an uproar and attacked the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people” (Acts 17:5 NKJV)1) Out of envy, unbelievers try to intimidate those who would preach, or hear, the Gospel. 2) The “evil men from the marketplace” are the professional demonstrators, rioters, looters, who have no purpose in life, except to get paid for causing traffic jams. 3) Often, these turn to violence, taking it out on the innocent ones, like Jason, and for no good purpose whatever! Anyone without principles can use the useless to “set all the city in an uproar.”

11-17-2015 Who Asks For “Justice”

Some people call for “justice,” but they have prejudged the outcome. They falsely use the term “justice” to hide their usually racially-prejudiced demand. Solomon said: “Evil men do not understand justice, But those who seek the LORD understand all” (Proverbs 28:5 NKJV). God had commanded Israelites through Moses: “You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality, nor take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous” (Deuteronomy 16:19 NKJV). Justice is served with regard for law and not skin color or wealth. It was a prejudiced, blood-thirsty mob who demanded their meaning of “justice” for Jesus, but “In His humiliation His justice was taken away, And who will declare His generation? For His life is taken from the earth” (Acts 8:33 NKJV).
