New things

Rising Joy, by Vicki Matheny

And the one seated on the throne said: “Look! I am making all things new!” Then he said to me, “Write it down, because these words are reliable and true.” He also said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the one who is thirsty I will give water free of charge from the spring of the water of life. The one who conquers will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be my son. (…)” Revelation 21.5-7

We all like new things! Have you ever looked at your body and wished it were different? Well, when Jesus comes again, he is making all things new! We will have a new body. We will live in a new home. We will have a new life. Jesus is the beginning and the end of all things. He will provide us with water that comes from the spring of the water of life.

However, it is not for everyone. It is for those who conquer and remain faithful to the end. It is for the one who is obedient to his commands. We shall once again have the close relationship with God that Adam and Eve had before the fall in the garden. O happy day!

To be made new

Rising Joy, by Vicki Matheny

So then, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, what is old has passed away – look, what is new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17

What a blessing! To be made new! I do not have to be bound or held down by my past because in Christ I am new, clean, pure. There is nothing nor anyone anywhere in the world that can do for me what Christ has already done. He truly gives me a chance for a fresh start. An appropriate verse with which to start the year!

Daily Nudge: something old and new — and news

Riddle me this: Name something old and new at the same time. I have a thing in mind, but you’ll probably find other things, so there’s no one right answer.

We’re looking forward to Laura’s news on their camp for BNc. Keep your ears tuned. What else have ye?

One of my favorite verses about obedienc…

There are two verses about obedience in Romans 6:17-18-NKJV that are significant:

“But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.”

We must obey “from the heart” that form [pattern] of doctrine that Paul preached and taught (1 Cor. 2:1-2; cf. Gal. 6:14; Philippians 3:7-10). What was the pattern? The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus (1 Cor. 15:1-4). We die to sin, we are buried in the watery grave of baptism, and then we rise to walk in newness of life (Romans 6:1-4).

What a beautiful picture of salvation!
