Abortion Attitudes are Changing

The Gallup Organization is reporting that the attitudes of Americans on abortion are changing dramatically.

The 41% of Americans who now identify themselves as “pro-choice” is down from 47% last July and is one percentage point below the previous record low in Gallup trends, recorded in May 2009. Fifty percent now call themselves “pro-life,” one point shy of the record high, also from May 2009.

Among independent voters, they report that pro-lifers outnumber those who espouse the pro-choice position.

Technologies such as advanced ultrasound machines are a significant factor in changing attitudes. It is more difficult to see the fetus as a “viable tissue mass” when it is on the screen so clearly alive. We pray that Americans will continue to move towards life on this most important issue.

Abortion Threatens Black Community

Abortion is described as the “Black Holocaust,” by some experts. Georgia is considering a bill to ban abortions on the basis of race, gender.  That is  a step in the right direction; even though a complete ban on all abortions would be far better. In Georgia, the Black community is hit very hard by abortion. “In 2008, blacks made up 30 percent of the population in Georgia but more than 57 percent of the abortions.”

What a terrible tragedy! We pray that all men and women [and children] will make better choices so there will be fewer babies killed.  Precious lives are at stake!!

Spain Continues to Destroy the Family

The Ruth Institute reports that Spain has increased the rights of women to have abortions and to be careless in their sexuality.

The story says

“Last week the Senate approved a sweeping new law that, in the name of women’s rights, allows abortion without restrictions up to 14 weeks and gives 16- and 17-year-olds the right to have abortions without parental consent, AP reports. Abortions are also allowed in the first 22 weeks of pregnancy if the fetus has a serious or incurable disease.”

There are many differences between God and man, in this respect. First, God promotes responsibility and purity. Man pushes irresponsibility and promiscuity. Second, God lifts us to become better and brighter. Man pushes us to be more degrading.

So much evil is done in the name of women. Why more aren’t offended is beyond me.

Staggering Numbers

I know this is discouraging reading, but the realities of what is happening is too painful to overlook.

Read any commentary on the contentious abortion debate and you’ll likely find a wide variety of numbers attempting to estimate the number of abortions that have taken place since the Supreme Court’s infamous Roe v. Wade abortion decision since 1973. Now, a new analysis from the National Right to Life Committee based on hard data and estimates for the most recent years finds 52 million unborn children have been killed in abortion since the Roe decision.

However, we have the power of prayer and we have begun to have some success.

“Abortion has taken a terrible toll on America. We’ve now lost more than 52 million of our sons, daughters, friends, and neighbors and we are a much poorer nation for it,” he said. “Over the past twenty years, however, we have seen that pro-life efforts can make a difference, as the number of abortions performed in the U.S. has declined from 1.6 million to 1.2 million a year. We’ve still a long way to go, obviously, but we see that pro-life legislation, education, and outreach can save and has saved hundreds of thousands of lives,” O’Bannon added. “Our task is great, but our cause is just.”

In the last three days in many of the em…

In the last three days in many of the emails I have received regarding the Massachusetts Senate race and why we must support pro-choice GOP candidate Scott Brown, I’ve never seen such stinkin’ thinkin’!

I’ve been told Scott Brown is more pro-life than Martha Coakley. If I am to understand this way of thinking then there are different levels of being pro-life. I hope someone will explain that one to me because I thought being pro-life was like being pregnant; you either are or you are not. It might just be me. But apparently you can be pro-life and still support killing babies with government funding if it is not elective surgery. If a doctor recommends an abortion because the mother’s life is in danger or because the father is a criminal, that mother has no choice but to chose an abortion.

I’ve asked many a Christian who has emailed me this weekend how are they going to explain their support for a pro-choice candidate to Jesus before the [judgment] Seat. Those emails were more disconcerting than the reasons for supporting Brown.

Silly Abortion Comment

Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley is running for the Senate seat left open after the death of Senator Ted Kennedy. She is a Democrat. The race is garnering nationwide attention and has been very hostile. She was asked about being a Catholic and how that corresponded with her pro-choice position. [Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi recently faced the same question] Coakley stammered and came up with an astounding answer. She said that pro-life people should not work in the emergency room.

Why not extend that to anywhere in the hospital, for that matter? Or, any branch of health care. Would that be her position as a Senator?

It is always amazing when people back themselves into a corner with indefensible positions.

On a lesser note, offending Catholics while trying to win a Senate seat in Massachusetts is exceedingly unwise.

Abortion and Free Will

National Review’s blog, The Corner reports: Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, recently explained that her Catholic faith does not preclude her from being an advocate for a woman’s right to an abortion. She characterized it as an exercise of free will, which is endowed by the creator.

Her Catholic Bishop disagrees and published an article repudiating her claim. He said, in part:

It is entirely incompatible with Catholic teaching to conclude that our freedom of will justifies choices that are radically contrary to the Gospel—racism, infidelity, abortion, theft. Freedom of will is the capacity to act with moral responsibility; it is not the ability to determine arbitrarily what constitutes moral right.

Just because we can do something doesn’t mean we should. The absolute truth of Scripture negates any efforts on our part to supersede God’s will.  God knew all of the complications and situations that can arise in our lives when He provided Scripture. Therefore, we cannot use situations to obviate the will of God. God does not believe in situation ethics.

It requires great courage to be obedient to God in the face of an overwhelming flood of criticism from the world. But, God provides all the strength we need to accomplish this task (Philippians 4:13; Ephesians 3:16).

End a Life, Save a Dollar

This is sickening. However, it is not surprising. When evolution tells us that we are worth no more than a slug, life becomes cheaper as time progresses. We see what this new reality has produced.

LifeSiteNews reports:

A local Planned Parenthood official has bluntly admitted why health insurance companies are increasingly comfortable with covering abortions: because the choice to kill an unborn child is cheaper than giving birth.

“A first trimester abortion is $300 to $450,” Baltimore Planned Parenthood CEO John Nugent told the national business magazine Forbes Thursday. “But if the gestational age is higher you’re paying for a surgical suite. That’s why the insurance companies think they should be offering it. It’s cheaper to terminate an unwanted pregnancy rather than taking it to term.”

The Forbes article points out the cost estimates offered by the Health Care Blue Book: it lists a typical abortion in a physician’s office costing $397, while a vaginal delivery costs $5,992, and a caeserean section is $8,558.

The Abortion Theme Continues

Abortion supporters have developed a new tactic, as has been reported here . We have been told that not only is abortion sacred and God-given, now it is a moral right. Hear Senator Feinstein echoing of the latest talking points in this short video clip.

They certainly have no fear of God (Proverbs 14:27).

Abortion Update

The United States Senate rejected an abortion amendment, thus putting the entire bill in jeopardy.

The Washington Post reports:

The measure, which failed 54-45, addressed the scope of restrictions on coverage of abortion services for people who receive subsidies to buy insurance.

Pro-life supporters say that this is “an accounting scheme to hide government-funded abortions.”

Pro-choice Senators are jockeying for position so they can get their name on an amendment or to be credited with getting the final bill passed.  Lining up to get blood on their hands is a rather strange thing in which to be proud. We can only hope that the abortion funding will be removed from the health care bill that ultimately is accepted into law.

More Abortion Insanity

Abortion supporters are simply losing their minds. Recently, an abortion clinic claimed that abortion was a God-given right and sacred work. Now, Senator Barbara Boxer has offered further evidence of their madness.

“Why are women being singled out here? It’s so unfair,” Boxer said on the Senate floor Tuesday. “We don’t tell men that if they want to … buy insurance coverage through their pharmaceutical plan for Viagra that they can’t do it.”

Do we really need to explain to the Senator the difference between Viagra and abortion??? This is crazy!

She ranted:

“This amendment would be the biggest rollback to a woman’s right to choose in decades,” Boxer declared Monday. “What have women done to deserve this?”

We could ask a more pointed question, “What have babies done to deserve being pulled apart and burned with acid and tossed into garbage cans?”

Their beliefs and action are astounding and are becoming more desperate as the days pass. Let’s keep praying that America sees them for what they really are.  The majority of Americans are pro-life for the first time. Accordingly, pro-choice supporters are terrified. Let’s keep the political pressure on them and never relent.

Woman Sues over Forced Abortion

Jill Stanek reports that a lawsuit has been filed by a young woman who claims that she went for an abortion and changed her mind as the procedure was about to begin. Instead of abiding by her wishes, they held her down and forced her to have an abortion.

The Flint Journal reports:

The teen alleges that she screamed “Stop, stop, I don’t want this,” before the procedure, but he and an assistant held her down and covered her mouth as they terminated her pregnancy, according to court documents.

She… has since been admitted to Hurley Medical Center because she was suicidal after the abortion, according to court documents.

More will be forthcoming on this story, but one aspect intrigues me.  They held her down and forced her to have an abortion. That is a fair representation of what has happened to America.

Abortion was legalized ostensibly as a result of judicial activism. In the decades since abortion became law, Americans have not had the chance to vote on the legality of abortion, for fear that it might become illegal.

Activists are terrified of what they know America really believes about this heinous act. Moreover, they do whatever they have to do to ensure that women are not shown videos or photos of what an abortion does to their baby.

By all means, women are to be told that it is not a baby but a viable tissue mass, so the women will not  develop an emotional attachment to the life growing inside of them.

The Gallup organization reports that, for the first time, more Americans classify themselves as pro-life than pro-choice.  So, that begs the question: Why should America be forced to endure millions of abortions against its will?
