Hugh's News & Views (Ten Most Wanted)

I do not know who came up with the following “Ten Most Wanted” list; however, it is not original with me. It encapsulates principles which, if followed, would make our world a better place in which to live. I commend it to us all for our thoughtful consideration and practice. (More …)

Show selflessness by doing this (add your suggestion)

helpJust read a post on how to be less selfish, and it was less than satisfactory, to my mind.

So I thought I’d appeal to the Fellows and readers of TFR:

What specific actions would you suggest for Christians to show selflessness in their actions?

The list ought to be almost endless, wouldn’t you think?

For a couple of years now I have made sure that I have small bills on me as much as possible for the homeless and beggars. It started as a six month experiment where I was never going to say no to anybody that asked me for anything. I have no words to describe the satisfaction and maturity I gained from this test of myself.

One practical way would be to forgo a night out at the restaurant and use the money to put extra food in the church pantry.

One emotional way would be to forgive someone whom we may not consider “worthy” of it. This one may not be as easy as the practical one, but it still hits close to home when it comes to taking up our cross and denying our self to be more Christ-like.

      Great question, Randal.
