8-18-2017 When Is Jesus’ Second Coming

Nearly 40 years before it happened, Jesus predicted the destruction of Jerusalem that took place in 70 A.D. There would be signs preceding it: “wars and commotions,” “nation will rise against nation,” “great earthquakes,” “famines and pestilences,” “persecution” of His disciples (Luke 21:8-19 NKJV). He related “’the abomination of desolation’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet” (Mark 13:14-23 NKJV), when they would “see Jerusalem surrounded by armies” (Luke 21:20 NKJV), and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place” (Mark 13:30 NKJV). Of the Second Coming, Jesus said, “But of that day and hour no one knows” (Mark 13:32 NKJV). Those who preach those “signs” as if they precede the Second Coming of Christ have ignored what Jesus actually said, and have shown complete disregard for the Word of God.

8-11-2017 No Natural Sign

There is a difference between “natural” happenings and “miraculous” events. “Now the LORD said to Moses, ‘Go in to Pharaoh; for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his servants, that I may show these signs of Mine before him, and that you may tell in the hearing of your son and your son’s son the mighty things I have done in Egypt, and My signs which I have done among them, that you may know that I am the LORD’” (Exodus 10:1-2 NKJV). God’s miracles stand out as “signs,” because there is nothing on earth like them! The ninth plague in Egypt was a “darkness which may even be felt” and lasted “for three days” (Exodus 10:21, 23 NKJV). A “solar eclipse” which is predictable and natural is not a “sign” or a “miracle!”

9-26-2016 Signs Of The End 1

Seeing the Temple in Jerusalem, Jesus predicted its destruction when He said, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone shall be left upon another, that shall not be thrown down” (Mark 13:2 NKJV).  The Apostles asked, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign when all these things will be fulfilled?” (Mark 13:4 NKJV).  Jesus listed many “signs:” “wars and rumors of wars,” “earthquakes in various places,” “famines and troubles” (Mark 13: 7-8 NKJV).  Jesus linked “tribulation” connected to “’the abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet” connected to Jerusalem’s destruction, which occurred in A.D.70.  All of these “signs” were for “this generation” which would “by no means pass away till all these things take place” (Mark 13:30 NKJV).   None of these signs had anything whatsoever to do with predicting the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ!

9-27-2016 Signs Of The End 2

After Jesus gave “signs” preceding the destruction of Jerusalem in Mark 13:1-31, which were fulfilled in A. D. 70, He mentioned another occurrence, for which there are no preceding signs.  “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is” (Mark 13:32-33 NKJV)1) The “signs” pointing to the destruction of Jerusalem cannot be pointing to “that day and hour” which not even “angels in Heaven, nor the Son” can predict! 2) The Second Coming of Jesus Christ has absolutely no preceding signs to warn of its preeminence.  3) Jesus told His disciples that they “do not know when the time is.” There is nothing in the Bible, Old or New Testaments, that point to the time of His Second Coming.

3-1-2016 Do You Need A Miracle Today?

The Gospel of Christ saves those who believe. “For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness” (1 Corinthians 1:21-23 NKJV). “Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people” (Matthew 4:23 NKJV). But Jews later said, “What sign will You perform then, that we may see it and believe You? What work will You do?” (John 6:30 NKJV). So we are told, “although He had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him” (John 12:37 NKJV). The answer to “sign-seekers,” is to “preach Christ crucified.” Bible miracles prove “Jesus is the Christ.”

3-2-2016 What Else Should He Do

Jesus was in Jerusalem, “Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him, ‘How long do You keep us in doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.’ Jesus answered them, ‘I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me.’” (John 10:24-25 NKJV). What doubt? (1) Jesus made it so plain, that when “the high priest asked Him, saying to Him, ‘Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?’ Jesus said, ‘I am.’” (Mark 14:61-62 NKJV). (2) There were “many of the people [who] believed in Him, and said, ‘When the Christ comes, will He do more signs than these which this Man has done?'” (John 7:31 NKJV). No one who ever lived has claimed what Jesus claimed and proven it with the power He did!

7-22-2015 The Holy Spirit Or The Written Word?

Why do people listen to what God says first but not last? Jesus promised the Apostles the Holy Spirit when He said, “the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you” (John 14:26 NKJV). When this happened on Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4, 14-22), “And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen” (Mark 16:20 NKJV). Those miracles cease when the word “was confirmed to us” (Hebrews 2:3). Scripture says, “If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord” (1 Corinthians 14:37 NKJV). The written Word is God’s Message today.

4-16-2015 “We have found the Messiah” (John 1:41) – Miracle Worker

Even “the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, ‘What shall we do? For this Man works many signs’” (John 11:47 NKJV). If miracles prove His claim, the number and power of them is overwhelming. In one chapter of Matthew alone (the 8th) Jesus heals: a leper, a paralyzed man, Peter’s mother-in-law’s fever; cast out demons “with a word; stopped a storm on the sea; and cast out so many demons, it drowned about 2000 swine. It’s no wonder, then, that “many of the people believed in Him, and said, ‘When the Christ comes, will He do more signs than these which this Man has done?'” (John 7:31 NKJV) No one else has done the works that Jesus Christ has done. Read all about it in the Bible.

Oblivious to the Obvious

Patience. Jesus owned the patent on patience…especially when it came to dealing with intentional stubbornness.

Mark 8:11-12 says,

Then the Pharisees came out and began to dispute with Him, seeking from Him a sign from heaven, testing Him. But He sighed deeply in His spirit, and said, “Why does this generation seek a sign? Assuredly, I say to you, no sign shall be given to this generation.””

The Pharisees had already seen enough signs to believe if they wanted to do so! Nicodemus admitted this much in John 3:2. Now, signs would still be given to these Pharisees, and to the rest of the world, but sadly these signs were still going to “fail their test.” They were oblivious to the obvious fact that they were the ones failing the test by ignoring all that had been done by Jesus up to this point in time in exchange for what they thought should be done. They didn’t have the spirit of Gideon in the making of their request – they had the spirit of their forefathers who resisted God’s Spirit with stiff-necks and uncircumcised hearts and ears.

Jesus’ sigh alone should have been a sign to them. It would have been obvious through His words. He offered them more patience than they were willing to offer each other when it came to His works and wisdom (John 7:50-52). They had the scriptures to see what signs were being fulfilled; but unless they were willing to see the scriptures, there was no way the signs would convince them or make them see – even if one rose from the dead! (Luke 4:16-21, 16:31)

Sin can make our heart oblivious to the obvious. Sin darkens our eyes. Sin deafens our ears. Sin hardens our heart. Sin numbs all of our spiritual senses. It can leave us dead while we live (1 Timothy 5:6). And the remedy for sin? It’s Jesus – and it’s obvious, but some sure are oblivious because they are too busy asking for signs instead of following them.

May our eyes see clearly, may ears hear openly, may our hearts stay tender, may our intentions stay godly as we study God’s word and may we be patient with others as God is with us. It’s a challenge, but if we fail to do these things we may just become oblivious to the obvious things He wants us to see.

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)

Zodiac? – JAM

Guess what? I am a totally different person than I was a couple of weeks ago. And I am upset about it too. Jan 13th a Minneapolis astronomer named Prof Kunkle announced that the Zodiac was being adjusted and a new sign, Ophiuchus, added.  Evidently because of the moon’s gravitational pull on Earth over the centuries, the Earth has wobbled a bit and the alignment of the stars have been pushed back about a month. It has turned my world topsy-turvy! I used to be a happy Aquarius, but now I discover that I’m not an Aquarius at all. I’m a Capricorn. It’s like your mother telling you that you were adopted! As soon as I heard it, I knew I was in trouble. Aquarius are honest, loyal and independent. But Capricorn are controlling, conceited and distrusting. But that isn’t all. Elaine, my wife, is an Aries and they are especially compatible with Aquarius. But when an Aries is paired with a Capricorn, it is a mismatch. It is like oil and water; like fire and ice. We’re set to have our 44th anniversary Tuesday; but now I’m afraid we won’t make it that far!
