11-15-2016 Salvation From Racism

The word “skin” is not even used in the New Testament.  No one can truthfully say “the Gospel of Jesus Christ is racist!”  “White” describes clothing of Jesus (Mark 9:3) or angels (Acts 1:10), but not skin! “An angel of the Lord” had a face “like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow” (Matthew 28:3 NKJV), so Jesus’ appearance to His churches said He had “head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow” (Revelation 1:14 NKJV).  Everyone who lives their lives avoiding or hating certain skin colors always “have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone” (Matthew 23:23 NKJV).  Isaiah knew God had “lovingly delivered my soul from the pit of corruption, For You have cast all my sins behind Your back” (Isaiah 38:17 NKJV).

7-29-2015 What Race Lives Matter?

Black lives matter” is a racist slogan. According to the Bible, all human lives matter, even those of the police! After Creating the animals, “the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being” (Genesis 2:7 NKJV). With Adam’s rib, God made “a woman, and He brought her to the man” (Genesis 2:22 NKJV), “And Adam called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living” (Genesis 3:20 NKJV). It is a perversion of the Creation account to put skin above soul. After the Flood, from Noah and his 3 sons, and their wives “the whole earth was populated” (Genesis 9:19 NKJV). Those who value life only according to skin color are racists!

4-7-2015 What Is “Discrimination?” #2

Discrimination is bad when the wrong standard is used, for instance, things people cannot help: skin or kin. However, the right standard is set by God’s moral values for His people. David said, “Teach me good judgment and knowledge, For I believe Your commandments” (Psalm 119:66 NKJV). Christians are told: “everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” (Hebrews 5:13-14 NKJV). It is by exercising our moral values we can tell the difference between “good and evil,” and there is a difference! It is wrong to discriminate because of skin, but right and essential to discriminate right from wrong.

spiritual rash

If you’ve ever had a rash, your experience may have gone something like this: you notice yourself scratching at the irritated part of your skin and it dawns on you that it’s been itching a lot. You realize the rash is there. You put cream of some kind on it to treat it and make a conscious effort not to scratch it. Your concentration on not scratching it makes it itch more. You hold yourself back, but your self control eventually breaks down and you scratch feverishly until it attains that raw, hot, yet strangely soothing painful sensation that you know deep down means it’s going to be twice as bad tomorrow. You’re relieved for a moment, yet you know that you’ve done the worst thing you could have done to it.

Sin is sort of like that.

Each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death. (James 1:14-15)

For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want…. Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! (Romans 7:19,24-25)

Lord, give us the self control to let Your Spirit dictate our actions when we are in the throes of temptation.
