The error of first century Calvinists

How wrong are twenty-first century Calvinists? They are as wrong as first century Calvinists!

Nearly 2,000 years ago, a man, although being born blind, received his sight by grace through faith in Jesus’ commands was harshly and erroneously told:

“…. You were completely born in sins, and are teaching us? And they cast him out.”

John 9:34 NKJV

Despite the doctrinal efforts of the “first century Calvinists”, the formerly physically blind man of John 9 was no more proven to be born under the wrath of God for his or anyone else’s sins than the formerly spiritually blind men and women of the twenty-first century who receive their sight by grace through faith … or any century for that matter!

The solution to problems are often found by properly identifying the problem. This is why Calvinism’s answer to blindness is so terrible. It’s not because it says the answer is Jesus (on which we would agree); it’s because, no matter how plain the evidence is, it says our vision problems, spiritually speaking, originate at birth thus making it impossible for its students to see how salvation by grace through faith actually takes place. And this judgment leaves anyone who disagrees with them, in their eyes, unable to see because they were completely born in sins … a judgment which is as wrong today as the day it was uttered to the man who heard words of grace, did not waste his opportunity, went and washed his eyes, and came back seeing!

And Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind.” Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, “Are we blind also?” Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.” (John 9:39-41 NKJV)
