This is Just-A-Minute. Why is sin so exceedingly sinful? Think about who God is. God is infinitely good, infinitely excellent, infinitely honorable. He is infinite in greatness, majesty and glory. He is above the greatest of earth’s potentates and higher than the most superlative of heaven’s angels. His authority over mankind and all creation is infinite and the basis of his right to expect our obedience is infinite. Man has an absolute, universal and infinite responsibility to respect God and keep His will. Thus to sin against God’s will is a violation of infinite obligation, a crime of infinite heinousness, and so, deserving of infinite punishment. Only God’s longsuffering retards its arrival and His desire that all be saved delays its coming. Only in Jesus is there hope.
