Through the years we have enjoyed going to different lectureships. Faulkner University, Lipscomb University, and Blue Ride Encampment. Why? The spiritual growth and fellowship are wonderful. The first time I ever saw Batsell Barrett Baxter was at Lipscomb lectures. We were in the same auditorium. I think about those Godly preachers I have sat and listened to at lectureships and realize I have been richly blessed.
Other interesting things I remember, not about lectureships but just in general, is attending a gospel meeting in Memphis and hearing Marshall Keeble preach. Doug was in graduate school, at Harding in Memphis, at that time. We went up front and shook hands with brother Keeble, after the service. As I shook his hand I noticed his right thumb was missing. I hope the shock in my face didn’t register with him. Do any of you know anything about that and what might have happened to his thumb?
Douglas and I also attended a meeting in Memphis where Foy E. Wallace, Jr. was preaching. He preached until 11:00 PM. People were going to sleep on the pews, some were getting up and leaving, but we stayed. He said we had asked for that lesson on the Holy Spirit and he was going to give it to us…..and so he did!
