Rising Joy by Vicki Matheny
For our momentary, light suffering is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison because we are not looking at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen. For what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4.17-18
Are you ever discouraged? When you get discouraged, what do you use to lift yourself up? Some go on a shopping spree. Others eat lots of “comfort” food. Some might try to read a self-help book. What you choose to lift you up makes all the difference!
Paul told the Corinthians what helped him during the times of suffering. It was vision, or rather it was where he was focusing his vision. Paul had suffered many trials, but what kept him going was his focus on the spiritual, what could not be seen. He wrote to the Colossians, 3.1-4, to keep thinking about the things above in heaven where Christ is.

He wants you to accept and obey his will, concentrating your focus on things that will help you grow in your faith, Philippians 4.8, strengthening you to walk even in the midst of suffering.
Where is your focus?
