We shall reap

Can you remember anyone in your early lifetime that influenced your life for good? Can you think of someone other than your parents and other family members who really had some impact upon your life? Jesus taught about this in MATT. 5:16. Paul talks about it in GAL. 6:9-10.Let me encourage you to study these verses this week.

When I think about my early formative years I know of many people other than my parents and siblings who really made a difference in my life. School officials like Mr. Dent, Mr. Cooper, Mrs. Gatewood, Mrs. Skaggs, and many others are still fresh in my memory today. I had a lot of wonderful school mates who helped me to be shaped into what I am today, and I am still very close with many of them. I think of the elders at church and their wives, Aubrey Van winkle, Ray Chester, James Angel, Ray Davis, and Roy Byrd who served as elders in my early years. When I began working full time in the Lord’s work, men like Ray Brown, Jim Alred, Ernie Bush, Leo Bailey and others were great mentors for me. I could fill several more pages with the names of those who touched my life.

You may never know when you will touch a life for good. It may be someone in your family, a colleague at work or school, a close friend, or someone that you just met, but you can have a good influence upon them by ‘doing them good.’ You see, one not only helps the other person when doing them good, but there are great rewards that the doer of good receives as well. Paul tells us in GAL. 6:9 that if we do not grow weary in well doing, WE SHALL REAP! What shall we reap? We will reap according to our sowing.

May God bless you this week as you go about doing good and someday there will be those who will remember you as a good influence in their life.

With Much Love,

Ted & Barbara
