Why religion? – JAM

August 9 editorial in the USA Today asked the question “Why religion?” A lot of people are asking the same question. 17% of Americans declare they have no religion. So let’s ask: Why religion? My answer is: take a look around. Who is it that calls for accountability? Who is it that teaches positive core values? Who is it that motivates benevolent acts of brotherly kindness? Who is it that encourages each of us to be a better person? It certainly is not the atheist or the irreligious. My faith makes me want to be a better person, not because I fear God’s wrath but because I am grateful for every blessing He sends my way and I hope to please Him by becoming more like His Son Jesus. I don’t want to live in a world without faith. But ultimately the answer to why religion is because God Is! This is Just-A-Minute with Ed Boggess
